View Full Version : OSPF retransmissions
I have a wireless link that the OSPF is failing on every 12 minutes then 22 minutes in a repeating pattern. OSPF shuts down the neighbor with this message: "Feb 24 11:16:17 CST: OSPF: Killing nbr 63.133.136.9 on FastEthernet4/0 due to excessive (25) retransmissions"
In the short term, I have turned off the retransmission limit, but I want to understand whats causing the repeating pattern of retransmission errors.

I have seen this error before, however cant recall what the issue/correction was I will dig around and see what I can find. Are the network types both set correctly?
Do you drop pings is you use something like 1400 byte pings? It could be a link issue dropping packets hence the DBD/LSA's are not making it back. Also does the other router show a neighbor dead/down message?
yeah, it's point-to-point over wireless ethernet. the key is the 12,22,12,22,12,...probably some kind of rf interference, but i cant assume that at this point.
BTW, this was solved with this command:
router ospf 1
limit retransmissions non-dc disable
